1. How Donations Work
We collect two types of donations: monetary donations and material donations.
We accept donations 24/7—whether in person or through whatever method is easiest for you. All material items are carefully collected, cleaned, organized, and stored. Monetary donations go directly into our charity fund.
1a. Material Fund
Material Donations Are Used in Two Ways:
-
Hearts and Hands Store, With the donor’s permission, select material donations that carry greater monetary value than direct-use value will be listed for sale in our online store. For example, we can receive a expensive or formal piece of clothing, it will not be practical for a poor person to use, however we will be able to sell it to someone who needs it, and use the profit to fund more practical needs. The profits from our store go directly to our charity fund, expanding our giving capacity and diversity.
-
Direct Giving, The remaining donations are distributed directly to those in need or through trusted partnerships. These item are only cleaned organized and distributed, we do not sell or exchange these items.
1b. Monetary Fund
-
How our fund works
Our monetary fund is made up of;
-
Monetary donations
-
Profits from fundraising events
-
Profits from hearts and hands store
Our fund is managed through a transparent, charity-specific bank account. Every transaction is carefully recorded, and we commit to making financial information available upon request.
-
Fund Utility
15-20% of the fund is used to cover operational costs, these costs include;
-
Website hosting and maintenance
-
Event organization fees
-
Storage and transportation
-
Basic tools and supplies used to clean, sort, and distribute items
Besides operational costs, the fund is strictly for direct charitable impact. We are dedicated to making the most out of our fund, and supporting as many people as possible throughout out process. For example; when purchasing food, we will purchase from underprivelleged vendors, creating a cycle of support. Our monetary purchases will also be designed to compliment our material donations. For example, if we have a collection of notebooks to donate, we will purchase pens and pencils to complete the set and therefore our gift will be more valuable.
2. How Your Donations Make a Difference
We have two methods of allocating our resources;
-
Flow Day, Once a week, we hold Flow Day—a special day dedicated to directly distributing the accumulated donations to those who most need them. Each Flow Day is tailored to the specific needs of that week’s chosen location. Flow day is free for anyone to join, it’s a chance to connect, share stories, and experience a more compassionate and joyful side of life. We also take time to learn about and adventure the regions we visit. Simultaneously we try to grow and connect our community. We invite you to join us, participate, and witness the impact firsthand.
-
Partnerships, Hearts and hands partners with individuals, organizations, and churches. We support our partners by supplying them with material and monetary donations. Our partners help us by providing tailored and professional support to those who need it most.
